Nokia 6.1 Plus, one HMD Global's budget offerings, is now getting a new build of Android 9 Pie - as per a user report. The update brings the December 2018 Android security patch and a few other enhancements for the camera as well as the user interface. The update rolling out to a Nokia 6.1 Plus user in India has a V3.45B build number and is 314.9MB in size. To recall, the Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched in India with Android 8.1 Oreo, and got its Android 9.0 Pie update in October.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus was already updated to Android Pie back in October making it one of the first budget smartphones to receive the latest version of Android.
The software update for the Nokia 6.1 Plus brings camera enhancements including a pro camera mode which will let users manually tweak parameters (like white balance, ISO, shutter speed). HMD Global is also bringing UI enhancements to the device which will allow users to hide the notch again. As we mentioned, news of the Nokia 6.1 Plus update was reported by a Twitter user. We've reached out to HMD Global for confirmation of the update's rollout and its availability.

Nokia 6.1 Plus users had the option to hide the notch on the display earlier but it disappeared after the September security update. We had earlier reported a different method to toggle the notch which required users to enable developer options. With this new update, users will find a Full Bezel option to toggle the notch in the Display settings itself. The news of the software update was first reported by Nokiamob
The Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched back in August in India at a price of Rs. 15,999. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, it had 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. It has a dual camera setup with Zeiss at the back consisting of a 16-megapixel primary sensor along with the 5-megapixel secondary sensor. We were impressed with the build quality of the device when we reviewed it. This device is a part of Google's Android One Programme and is guaranteed to receive software and security updates in a timely manner.
If you have a Nokia 6.1 Plus, you can check for an update by going to Settings > System > System update > Check for update.
