Nokia 2, HMD Global's most affordable smartphone, is finally being made available in more markets. After going up for pre-orders in Russia, the Nokia 2 is now up for pre-orders in the US. Priced at $99 (roughly Rs. 6,500), the Nokia 2 can be pre-ordered via Amazon where it is available as an unlocked unit.
The Amazon listing confirms that the Nokia 2 will support AT&T and T-Mobile mobile networks. There's no clarity whether the smartphone will be launched in the country with support for Sprint or Verizon networks.
HMD Global is yet to reveal an India price tag of the new Nokia smartphone. Nokia licensee HMD Global has already announced the Nokia 2 will be globally available starting mid-November and revealed a global average price of EUR 99 (roughly Rs. 7,500).
The company is marketing the 4100mAh battery, and premium design with polycarbonate body as well as 6000 Series Aluminium frame as the highlights of the smartphone. Running through the specifications, the Nokia 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 SoC (quad-core, clocked up to 1.2GHz) coupled with 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front fixed focus camera.
As for storage, the Nokia 2 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Connectivity options on the Nokia 2 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio with RDS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
It measures 143.5x71.3x9.3mm, and is IP52-rated (for drip protection). It comes in three colour options - Pewter Black with black face and frame, Pewter White with white face, black frame, and Copper, with black face, black back, and copper frame.
