The much-anticipated successor of the Moto X (Review | Pictures), the
Moto X+1, continues to stay
in the limelight with numerous rumours and leaks ahead of its
anticipated launch
on September 4. While a number of specifications have been reported
over the past few months, the latest leak hints at some of the unique
features of the smartphone Motorola will be touting.
Motorola's
Moto X+1 has been tipped to feature optical zoom, the details of which
are not yet known. While optical zoom is not very common in smartphones,
it is rarer to find in regular smartphones instead of camera-centric
phones.
Another feature mentioned by tipster Hellomotohk on its
Facebook post
is the Moto X+1's 3D display. GSMArena speculates
that due to the lack of adoption of auto-stereoscopic displays in the
past, the mention of the 3D display is probably referring to a curved
display.
The third feature said by the tipster to arrive in the
Moto X+1 is 'Touchless Control', which is speculated to be similar to
the voice-control users already have on the Moto X, with always-on
listening.
In the meantime, a Brazilian retailer - Livraria Logos - has listed
(via
Droid-Life) the Moto X+1 as pre-sales listings of three variants -
Black, Bamboo, and Leather. The listings show the smartphone to bear
model name XT1097, a 5.20-inch HD display, a 2.2GHz quad-core processor,
2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, and a 13-megapixel rear camera.
It is said to run Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
Livraria Logos has
also listed
(also for pre-sale) a Motorola smartphone it is calling the Moto Titan
DTV, said to be the successor to the Moto G. The site has quoted model
number XT1069, and listed a 5-inch HD display, a 1.2GHz quad-core
processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, and an 8-megapixle
camera. The phone is also said to run Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
Motorola however is yet to unveil the Moto X+1 and
confirm the features of the smartphone. Notably, Motorola has sent out
invitations
to an event on September 4, where the company is expected to launch
four new products, including the hotly-anticipated Moto X+1.
Last
week, a purported press render image showing the upcoming Moto X+1 was
leaked online
by @evleaks. The alleged Moto X+1 render showed the alleged handset
with Verizon branding, tipping that the successor of the Moto X will be available on the mobile carrier. The render further
showed the handset in two versions - one Black, and the other with a
wooden back.
Motorola is also likely to debut 8 new devices
before Christmas. According to a report, the company is planning to
launch the Droid, the Droid Maxx, the recently leaked
Droid Turbo, the long-rumoured Moto X+1, the Moto G (likely referring
to the successor of the Moto G), the Moto X Play, the Moto S and the
much-anticipated next Nexus smartphone codenamed 'Shamu' before the end
of the year.
