A Munich state court ruled Thursday that Motorola Mobility infringed a Microsoft patent covering the way mobile devices handle input commands from users.
The ruling means Google will have to modify its Android operating system or pay Microsoft a license fee to use the technology in devices sold in Germany.
The Munich court said Google can appeal the ruling.
The same court ruled a week ago that Motorola infringed an Apple Corp. patent on mobile technology known as "bounce-back."
