Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures has announced an incremental firmware update for the Yureka smartphone. The smartphone will start receiving Android 5.0.2 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 with build number YNG1TAS1K0 in next few days.

The company notes that Yureka users who have upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 (CM12S) update will only receive the Android 5.0.2 update notification.

The latest Lollipop update for Micromax's Yu Yureka will be available over-the-air (OTA) and users can also manually check for the update by going to Settings > About phone > Software update on the Yu Yureka. The OTA update for the Yureka is about 130MB in size.

The company stresses that the update improves battery performance of the Yureka smartphone. Announcing the news Yu at its official forum said, "We are excited to announce a new software update for Yureka which will lead to improved battery performance for Yureka." The company also termed it as performance update and noted that it has been rolled out after receiving feedback from beta testers in the community.

The latest incremental update for the Yureka smartphone is also expected to bring fixes for various user-reported bugs that were introduced by Cyanogen OS 12 (CM12S) update, including lag in apps, voice-calling issues, and overheating issue.

Just ahead of Micromax's Yu Yuphoria launch, Yu announced sale of the Yu smartphone without any registrations in India for a couple of days.

Yu Televentures on Tuesday launched its second smartphone, the Yu Yuphoria, priced at Rs. 6,999 and, like the Yu Yureka, it will be exclusively available via Amazon India.
