Micromax has launched the octa-core Canvas Knight Cameo A290 smartphone in India, with the phone now listed on company's website and available online at a third-party retailer.
The dual-SIM Micromax Canvas Knight Cameo A290 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box, and features a 4.7-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display. The smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor alongside 1GB RAM. It sports an 8-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with LED flash and full-HD (1080p) video recording support, while there is a 5-megapixel fixed-focus front-facing camera also onboard. The 8GB of inbuilt storage on the Canvas Knight Cameo A290 is expandable up to 32GB (via microSD card).
The Micromax Canvas Knight Cameo A290 smartphone has already been listed by an online retailer at Rs. 12,777, though the company has not officially announced the price.
The Canvas Knight Cameo A290 is powered by a 2000mAh battery, which is rated at 180 hours standby time and 7 hours talk time. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The phone also comes with accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and a magnetometer.
In many ways, the Canvas Knight Cameo is a lower-cost variant of the Micromax Canvas Knight, which comes with a 5-inch full-HD display and a 2GHz octa-core processor. Canvas Knight A350 also features 32GB internal storage and 2GB RAM, while it comes with 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel front and rear cameras.

The Micromax Canvas Knight ran Android 4.2 out of the box, but was recently said to be receiving the Android 4.4.2 OTA update.
