Micromax has introduced its new Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition smartphone which is now listed on the company site. Unfortunately, there is no word on the pricing, but we can expect the handset to go on sale soon.
The biggest highlight of the Micromax Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition is its rear panel which sports a walnut wood finish. Another highlight of the handset is it supports 4G LTE connectivity. The new handset seems to be a 'lite' variant of the Canvas 5 smartphone which was unveiled last year at Rs. 11,999.
It features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display, runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box, and is powered by a 1GHz quad-core MediaTek (MT6735P) processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. There is 16GB of on-board storage and supports expandable storage via microSD card. The handset sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and also packs a 5-megapixel front camera. The rear camera can record videos at 720p. The Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition is backed by a 2000mAh battery which is rated to deliver up to 150 hours of standby time and a talk time of up to 4.5 hours. The dual-SIM handset supports GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, 4G, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB connectivity options.
Earlier this month, Micromax launched the Unite 4 Plus priced at Rs. 7,999. Some of the highlight features of the smartphone include support for 12 Indian regional languages with Indus OS 2.0, apart from other language and translation based features as Indus Swipe, a hybrid keyboard, a Text-to-Speech, and the App Bazaar's regional language market place.
