Micromax is working on a new smartphone under its Canvas product range if images posted on Twitter by user @
MMXNewscaster are to be believed. The user posted a picture of the 'Canvas 3D' phone's 'About' screen, according to which, the phone's model number is Micromax A116 and it runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.The screen also shows the phone's baseband version and kernel version. The user also posted a picture of the phone that shows it running a 3D UI and a picture of the back of the phone.
Following the leak, FoneArena also quoted MMXNewscaster to
report that the Canavas 3D would come with a 5-inch WVGA screen that has a resolution of 480x800 pixels. It mentions that the phone will be powered by a dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor , and will sport an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel front camera. However, the user had earlier tweeted that the A115 will feature a MediaTek MT6589 QuadCore processor, the same as in CanvasHD.
The Canvas series has received a good response in the market, enabling Micromax to establish the range as a value for money yet feature rich line-up of smartphones.

Pictures). Though the Micromax Canvas HD made a lot of buzz when it was announced, the phone's availability in the market has been constrained
due to supply issues and the recent changes in custom duty structure, that resulted in a price hike. However, the phone has
finally started shipping and is being seen at retail stores across the country.
Micromax has also in the news recently as it was
sued by global telecom giant Ericsson for Rs. 100 crore over patent infringement. The company is reportedly in talks with Ericsson over the issue and hopes to negotiate a FRAND license for the patents at the earliest.
