LG is planning to unveil a new series of devices that may well be announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this month. The company posted a teaser image of what looks like a present wrapped in a bow on its Facebook page, along with the tagline "New series will be unveiled".
Additionally, the picture credit on Facebook reads as, "See what surprise LG has in store for you this time, with an unexpected distinction." This means we can expect something never seen before.
The image only says "series" hinting at the possibility of both smartphones and tablets. This has users guessing on what it could be. LG's fourth quarter earnings report hinted at a new F-Series that is likely to join the Korean manufacturer's current L-Series and its Optimus G flagship smartphones.
With more European and emerging markets introducing LTE services this year, LG plans to increase smartphone revenues and market share by launching follow-up devices to Optimus G and the L-series as well as the new F-series.
Last year, LG made a big splash at MWC with multiple devices including the
LG Optimus L3,
L5,
L7 devices, the
Optimus 4X HD (

Optimus Vu.
There have been rumours doing the rounds indicative of LG likely to introduce the
Optimus L7 II Dual this month. It is expected to launch in Russia sometime this month for 12,990 rubles, which translates to roughly $433. As the name suggests, it will be a dual-SIM smartphone, available in black and white colour options. The LG Optimus L7 II Dual will also have a 'hot key', which will make it easier for the consumer to switch between the SIMs.
Other rumoured specs include a 4.3-inch IPS-display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear camera, Android 4.1 and a 2,460 mAh battery.
LG had recently announced
LG Optimus G Pro smartphone in Japan in collaboration with NTT DoCoMo. This smartphone has a 5-inch screen with full-HD (1920x1080) display. It comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. There is a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a 2.4-megapixel front camera as well. It is likely that this device might be on display at the MWC.
