Thanks to a recent Qualcomm statement and a few leaks, it is pretty much certain that LG is going to launch a quad-core smartphone at IFA in a few days. Now, LG has come forward with more details on the smartphone without naming it, however it is rumoured that the smartphone is codenamed as "Optimus G".

According to the company, it has partnered with three of its sister entities to make "the most technologically advanced device to date".

The company further states that LG Chem, which makes electric car batteries, has come up with a new battery for Optimus G that offers better energy capacity with a lifespan of 800 cycles unlike standard batteries that only have 500 cycles lifespan.

Similarly, LG display has helped LG Electronics in developing True HD IPS+ display, which has a high pixel density of 320ppi (1280x768 pixels) and is capable of generating 470 nits of brightness while consuming 70 percent less power compared when displaying a white background.

LG Innotek has also pitched in by developing G2 Touch Hybrid display, which is a unibody unit that eliminates the gap between the glass and the LCD panel thus the thickness of touchscreen panel is reduced by 30 percent.

Other specifications of the smartphone are expected to include Qualcomm 2 GB of RAM, 13 MP camera, front camera and Android 4.0. It is set to go on sale in South Korea next month, followed by other markets.
