A week after
specs for LG's Optimus G Pro smartphone leaked online, the company has gone ahead and made the device official in its homeland. The Korean version of the Optimus G Pro sports a 5.5-inch full-HD display is expected to be available in later this month. But LG hasn't mentioned whether or not it will trickle down to other regions beyond South Korea.
Though detailed specs of the smartphone weren't revealed by the company in its
press documentation, we'd expect the device to carry most of the earlier leaked specs. These include a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon with 2GB RAM, a 13-megaxiel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing one, 32GB of internal storage expandable up to 64GB via microSD, 3,140 mAh battery and LTE support as well.
That said, the device isn't a remake of the
Japanese Optimus G Pro that LG recently announced in the country in collaboration with NTT DoCoMo. It brings to the fore certain design improvements that give it a better aesthetic appeal.
Apart from a 5.5-inch display versus Japan's 5-inch one, the device features the typical LG glitter pattern on the back panel offering a "Digital Cube" effect, which is quite reminiscent of the Nexus 4. It sports a curved glass display that the company claims to give it a "2.5D" effect. The handset will be available in black and white colours and will pack a rather slim bezel.
Considering LG launched the Optimus G Pro ahead of the Mobile World Congress, we'd certainly expect to see the device make an appearance in Barcelona at the end of this month, where full details of the smartphone could be revealed.
Recently, LG also officially announced the next generation
L Series II smartphones - the Optimus L3 II, Optimus L5 II and Optimus L7 II. The company says it has introduced four new design elements incorporating a Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and Smart LED Lighting on the home button.
LG also mentioned that the dual-SIM version of the Optimus L7 II will be the first to launch as part of the new series and will debut in Russia this week, with pricing for the device still unknown. The Optimus L3 II with 3.2-inch QVGA IPS display and 1,540mAh battery and the Optimus L5 II with a larger 4-inch WVGA display and 1,700mAh battery will be announced at a later date.
