LG has officially announced its new flagship Optimus G in Korea. The specifications of the smartphone were never a secret, since LG had
revealed them last month.
The LG Optimus G comes with a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, LTE networking, a 4.7-inch 1280x768 (320ppi) display and 2GB of RAM. The phone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front shooter. It comes with 32GB of built-in flash storage, but no microSD card slot. The Android 4.0 sporting smartphone also comes with NFC.
The phone will go on sale in Korea next week for a price tag of 999,900 KRW ($895 USD, Rs. 48,395).
The battery of the Optimus G is worth talking about as the company it has partnered with LG Chem to develop the same. LG Chem has built an innovative battery with a lifespan of 800 cycles unlike standard batteries that only have 500 cycles lifespan.
Similarly, LG display has helped LG Electronics in developing True HD IPS+ display, which is capable of generating 470 nits of brightness while consuming 70 percent less power compared when displaying a white background. On the other hand, LG Innotek has developed G2 Touch Hybrid display, which eliminates the gap between the glass and the LCD panel thus the thickness of touchscreen panel is reduced by 30 percent.
