LG is all set to launch its latest flagship, the LG G7 ThinQ, today at an event in New York. Renders and specifications of the smartphone have been leaked earlier, and now new details have emerged just hours before the launch, citing an official press release from LG that was obtained early. The LG G7 ThinQ is said to come with a dedicated hardware button for Google Assistant and Google Lens. Moreover, additional photos of the flagship have also been leaked revealing LG G7 ThinQ's colour variants.
The LG G7 ThinQ will come with a dedicated hardware button to trigger Google Assistant and Google Lens, reports VentureBeat, citing an official press release that was obtained ahead of the launch later today. The button is said to be placed right below the volume rocker. While Google Assistant is a commercial feature used by many, Google Lens is still in its preview stage. For those unaware, Google Lens uses the camera to recognise objects in front of it, and offer suggestions accordingly. For example, if a business card is shown to the smartphone's camera, the device will suggest adding the contact into your phone. The report states that a single tap on the button will activate Google Assistant, double tap will activate Google Lens, and a long press will activate the mic to let you speak directly to Google Assistant. Furthermore, the report also states that the LG G7 ThinQ can take voice commands from up to five metres away.
The report also states the "official" specifications of the LG G7 ThinQ, saying the Android 8.0 Oreo based smartphone sports a 6.1-inch QHD+ (1440x3120 pixels) FullVision Super Bright Display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with either 4GB (G7) or 6GB of RAM (G7+). It is said to have two 16-megapixel rear cameras, with one bearing a 107-degree wide-angle lens and an f/1.9 aperture, and the other featuring an f/1.6 aperture and a 71-degree lens. On the front, it sports an 8-megapixel camera with an f/1.9 aperture. The report states it has two storage variants - 64GB (G7) and 128GB (G7+). It is also said to be IP68-certified for dust and water resistance.
The LG G7 ThinQ is said be made available in New Platinum Gray, New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue, or Raspberry Rose colour variants, and be powered by a 3000mAh battery. It is said to measure 153.2x71.9x7.9mm, and weigh 162 grams.
Separately, WinFuture has leaked more images of the LG G7 ThinQ suggesting that the smartphone will be available in Black, Red, and Blue. The front of the device is all-screen, taking inspiration from the iPhone X. The back reveals a dual camera with lenses placed vertically. The fingerprint scanner is also situated at the back, and the extra hardware button for Google Assistant and Google Lens can also be seen.
The WinFuture report corroborates the specifications leaked by Venture Beat, saying that the LG G7 ThinQ's model number is LM-G710.
