The South Korean giant also announced that the new LG G3 Stylus will be showcased at the IFA 2014 show in Berlin in early September. Pricing details have not been announced by LG as yet.
The company has confirmed that the LG G3 Stylus will be available in 3G markets starting with Brazil in September that will be followed by countries in Asia, Middle East and Africa and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat-based LG G3 Stylus features UX derived from the LG G3. Last week, LG had announced that it would be rolling out the UX features from the G3 flagship to most of its entry and mid-level smartphones and tablets launched in the second half of this year.
Some of the highlights of the G3-derived UX skin include Touch and Shoot feature that clicks images by tapping anywhere on the display to focus and shoot in one single step, and Gesture Shot in the camera allows users to open and close a hand in front of the lens to start a three-second countdown for the shutter.
Other features include Knock Code, which was first introduced on the LG G2 that allows users to unlock the phone by tapping a personalised 'knock' pattern on the display, and QuickMemo+, which is a blend of three utility apps - Quickmemo, Memo and Notebook apps. The G3 Stylus also features dual window feature that allows multitasking in two separate windows.
The new LG G3 Stylus comes with stylus support (Rubberdium stylus), as the name suggests, a feature that is missing from the G3 (Review | Pictures) flagship as well. Another major UX feature from the G3 is the Smart Keyboard, which the company has claimed can reduce input error by up to 75 percent by analysing and adapting to typing habits.
For specifications, the LG G3 Stylus features a 5.5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core (unspecified chipset) processor. It comes with 8GB inbuilt storage and supports expandable storage. There is 1GB of RAM as well.
The smartphone sports 13-megapixel rear camera and also comes with 1.3-megapixel font camera. LG G3 Stylus is backed by a 3000mAh removable battery. It measures 149.3x75.9x10.2mm and weighs 163 grams. The G3 Stylus will be available in Black, Gold and White colour variants.
Commenting on the launch, Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said, "With its exceptional hardware and exceptional price that can't be beat, the LG G3 Stylus is in a category all by itself. The LG G3 Stylus is the perfect tool for consumers who don't want to be bogged down carrying a laptop, tablet and smartphone. It gets things done and lets you have fun while doing without having to compromise on quality, style or user experience."
