Following the lead of Samsung, HTC and Sony, LG could be the next to join the mini-variant segment, with the expected launch of the rumoured new LG G2 mini.

Tech Blog in a report has claimed that LG is working on a mini variant of the 2013 flagship smartphone, the LG G2, believed to be dubbed LG G2 mini. However, the report suggests that the name LG G2 mini is not the official name and could be changed when launched.

On the specifications front, the report claims that the alleged LG G2 mini could bear similarities with its elder sibling in terms of chipset, and RAM.

As per the report, the alleged LG G2 mini would be powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset, the same seen on the LG G2. Other specifications include 2GB of RAM, and a 4.7-inch display, although the report couldn't confirm the resolution of the display.

The report further speculates that LG might launch the alleged LG G2 mini at CES 2014 in January at Las Vegas. Unfortunately, there is no word on the design of the alleged LG G2 mini, whether it would also feature the power buttons and the volume rocker at the back of the phone like the G2.

LG launched the LG G2 globally back in August. The LG G2 features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920) display, with a pixel density of 423ppi. It is powered by Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor that's clocked at 2.26GHz. The device comes with 2GB of RAM and offers 16GB and 32GB storage options.
