Soon after Lenovo launched the successor to the A6000, the A7000 smartphone in India on Tuesday, reports about the discontinuation of the former started making rounds on the Internet, especially after the phone was listed (see below) as 'permanently discontinued' on Flipkart - the firm's exclusive retail partner for the A6000 (and now the A7000) smartphone.

NDTV Gadgets has now clarified with Lenovo India that the Lenovo A6000 smartphone has not been discontinued, and rather, its stocks will be replenished soon.

In an emailed response, Lenovo India said, "The Lenovo A6000 has not been permanently discounted in India as of now." The company without revealing a time-frame confirmed that the A6000 stocks will be replenished soon citing huge consumer response. To be noted is that the company made the smartphone available to purchase without registration from March 23.

"We are working towards getting additional units of A6000 to meet the overwhelming consumers demand. After the last flash sale which was around 10 days back we have still been getting more demands for the smartphone which was not anticipated. As the products are out of stock at the moment, we are trying our best to procure more devices to meet the requirement," the company added.

The move could have been surprising to few consumers as the Lenovo A6000 (Review | Pictures) was made available in India at the end of January at Rs. 6,999.

Lenovo on Monday claimed that it sold a total of 300,000 units exclusively through Flipkart. The company clarified that since the launch of A6000, it managed to sell the 180,000 units via flash sales while added that another 1,20,000 units were sold without any pre-registration. To recall, Lenovo A6000's last flash sale was held on March 18.

The Lenovo A7000 smartphone was launched at Rs. 8,999. The "mass flagship" smartphone will be available starting April 15 exclusively via Flipkart, and registrations for the first sale kicked off on Tuesday itself.
