Lenovo will be launching the Phab 2 smartphone in India on Tuesday. The Chinese company is sending media invites for a webinar that begins at 11am IST. As teased earlier, the new Lenovo Phab 2 smartphone will be exclusive to Flipkart.
The company already unveiled the Phab 2 Plus in India last month, though there is still no word when it plans to launch the Phab 2 Pro, the Tango-ready phone, in India.
To refresh, the Lenovo Phab 2 is a Phab 2 Plus variant with some downgrades. The Phab 2 sports a lower resolution screen, camera is also downgraded, and there is no fingerprint scanner on the handset. Considering that Lenovo launched the Phab 2 Plus in India at Rs. 14,999, we expect the Phab 2 to be priced reasonably.
The Phab 2 was launched at the company's Tech World Event in June and priced at $199 (roughly Rs. 13,500). However, upon checking the company's US site, the company is selling the Phab 2 at $169 (roughly Rs. 11,500) - so we can expect pricing to be closer to this price point at launch in India.
For specifications, the Lenovo Phab 2 features a 6.4-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT8735 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It packs 32GB of inbuilt storage with the option to expand further via microSD card (up to 128GB). It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and PDAF while there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with an 85-degree wide-angle lens.
It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and supports a hybrid dual-SIM slot (both Micro-SIMs). It measures 175x88.5x9.6mm, and weighs 225 grams. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS support. It packs a massive 4050mAh battery, and was launched in Champagne Gold and Gunmetal Grey colour options.
