XOLO X900 was the first Intel powered Android smartphone and it was launched with Android 2.3 on-board. Although Lava promised to promise to release the ICS update within weeks of the launch, it has started rolling out only now, when we already have Jelly Bean available for multiple devices and are already talking about Android 4.2.
The Ice Cream Sandwich update for XOLO X900 brings performance improvements, a new user interface, Face Unlock, improved multi-tasking and browser as well as several other enhancements.
The OTA update download is 222MB and users can find detailed instructions for installing the update OTA as well as via PC at XOLO support website.
There is no word on the Jelly Bean update for the smartphone and taking in consideration the delay in ICS update, the chances of the Android 4.1 update seems a little bleak.
Intel, which has been trying to tap the smartphone market, has partnered with several devices manufacturers to release devices with its chips since the debut of XOLO X900. It also released Motorola RAZR i, the first smartphone to be powered by a 2GHz Intel processor.
