Lava on Thursday expanded its Iris X1 series with the launch of the Lava Iris X1 Atom. The Indian smartphone maker said the smartphone will reach major retailers by next week, priced at Rs. 4,444.
The dual-SIM Lava Iris X1 Atom is an Android 4.4 KitKat-based handset, which the company has promised will receive an Android 5.0 Lollipop update over-the-air (OTA) in future. A time-frame for rollout has not been mentioned as of yet. The Iris X1 Atom features a 4-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) resolution display with pixel density of 233ppi and 16.7 million colour gamut.
The smartphone under-the-hood houses a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (unspecified chipset) clubbed with 512MB of RAM. The Iris X1 Atom features 4GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).

The camera section of the Iris X1 Atom comprises a 5-megapixel PureCel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA (0.3-megapixel) front-facing camera. On the connectivity front, the smartphone supports 3G networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v2.1 and USB 2.0. Lava has additionally included software features in its Iris X1 Atom like Smart Swipe, which is a 4-way gesture shortcut that enables users to rotate images using two fingers (Smart View); double tap to wake up, and Active Shot, a one-step shortcut to click images.
The Lava Iris X1 Atom is backed by a 1750mAh battery and will be available in White-Silver, Black-Silver, and Black-Gold colour variants upon its launch. Lava earlier this month launched the Lava Icon at Rs. 11,990.
