The smartphone comes with a 4-inch display with a 480x800 resolution. The dual-SIM phone comes with dual standby and 2G (EDGE) support. It is powered by a 1GHz processor alongside 256MB RAM. The internal storage on the smartphone is 200MB that can be expanded up to 32GB through an external microSD card. The device comes with a 3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and no front-facing camera. It runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3 and has a 1500mAh battery.
The device comes pre-installed with applications such as Saavn, WeChat, Ninja Rush, Dragon Hunter, Space Off and Lava Zone. The pre-installed browser on the device is the Android Internet browser along with Opera Mini.
Despite being an entry level device, the outdated Gingerbread OS will certainly be a concern for potential buyers. It is important to note that there are other options in this price segment that offer better specifications with a recent Android Jelly Bean such as the Samsung Galaxy Star.
Lava had also launched the Lava Iris 458q smartphone with quad-core processor for Rs. 8,999 recently. The phone is the cheapest quad-core processor phone available in the market at this point in time. However, it has 512MB of RAM so it probably won't be one of the smoothest performing ones. The device comes with Android Jelly Bean, the latest iteration of the Android ecosystem. The company had also launched its 7-inch Lava E-Tab Xtron+ tablet with Android 4.2 recently for Rs. 6,990.
