The smartphone is christened Karbonn A50 and it sports a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen. It packs in a 1GHz processor along with 256MB of RAM. Internally, the smartphone comes with 512MB of internal storage, which can be further expanded by up to 32GB. Karbonn A50 runs on the dated Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
It is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM), which supports GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB. Karbonn A50 comes pre-loaded with Android, Opera Mini and UC Browser. Other apps that come pre-loaded on this smartphone are Karbonn Live, WhatsApp, Hungama and TOI.
It has a 3-megapixel rear camera but no front camera. The handset comes with 1,300mAh battery, which as per the company claims delivers 5 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time. Karbonn A50 is available in Black and White colour options and will cost Rs. 3,890.
Karbonn A50 will be competing with the likes of Micromax Bolt A35, Videocon A15, Spice Stellar Buddy Mi-315 and iBall Andi 3.5KKe.
It is noteworthy, that Karbonn had launched its A3 smartphone in the month of March. Priced at Rs. Rs. 3,600, this smartphone comes with 1GHz processor with 256MB of RAM. Karbonn A3 sports a 3.5-inch screen with HVGA display. It also has a 3-megapixel rear camera and VGA camera on the front. The smartphone packs in 1400 mAh battery. On paper, Karbonn A3 looks like a better value smartphone that the recently launched Karbonn A50.
