The upcoming iPhone 7 as per some analysts would be a minor upgrade over the previous model and might not have a 'selling point'. However, some rumours might change their thinking. It has been reported that the iPhone 7 might be dust and waterproof and will feature a Force Touch home button on the display, something that has been rumoured in the past as well.

Digitimes reports (via GSMArena) that the iPhone 7 has completed its third round of testing for dust and water resistance. In addition, the prototype models are said to feature a digital touch-sensitive or virtual home button as part of the display.

Storm, another Chinese website (via 9to5Mac) adds to the rumour by saying the virtual home button might use haptic feedback motors seen on the Force Touch trackpad of the MacBook to give a button like feel, and other interface options. The report adds that this would make the smartphone completely dustproof and waterproof. To be noted is that analysts recently predicted the inclusion of a virtual home button in the iPhone 8, thought to be launched in place of the iPhone 7s.

The report further says that the Cupertino-based tech firm might also consider including a matte black colour for the iPhone 7 chassis. This is supposed to be darker than the Space Grey colour.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple will ditch use of aluminium casing for its iPhone next year, in favour of an all-glass enclosure. Other rumours indicate the handset to sport a dual-camera setup, along with a removal of the 3.5mm jack in order to make a slimmer model. While all the information are only guesses for now, everything here should be taken with skepticism.
