The iPhone 17 series has been subject to leaks and rumours for some months now. The lineup is expected to include four models — iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The development of the new iPhone family has not been confirmed by Apple yet, but a string of leaks have shed light on the next-generation of phones from the tech giant. Now, a supply chain insider has shared details about the display of the standard iPhone 17, claiming the base model will come with a display that is larger and supports higher refresh rates than the iPhone 16.

iPhone 17 Screen Could Be Larger Than iPhone 16

DSCC analyst Ross Young on X claimed the iPhone 17 would sport a bigger display than its predecessor, the iPhone 16. The next-generation model, which will likely be revealed later this year, is said to feature a 6.3-inch screen — 6.27 inches precisely — compared to the 6.1-inch display of last year's standard iPhone model. In addition to the larger display, the iPhone 17 is said to offer 120Hz refresh rate.

Apple has offered 120Hz ProMotion displays on its iPhone Pro models in previous years. ProMotion displays provide smoother animations and scrolling by dynamically adjusting the refresh rate. Bringing this long-awaited upgrade to the vanilla iPhone 17 is expected to reduce the feature gap between standard and Pro models. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus offer 60Hz refresh rate, while the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have a 120Hz refresh rate panel.

Several past leaks from various sources have pointed to this display upgrade for iPhone 17, making it highly likely. Previous design leaks suggested that the iPhone 17 Pro will also feature the same 6.3-inch display. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be larger than the standard and Pro models with a 6.5-inch screen.

iPhone 17 and its siblings are expected to debut in September this year. The vanilla model and the new iPhone 17 Air are rumoured to run on either an A18 or A19 chipset with 8GB of RAM. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are tipped to come with the A19 Pro chipset alongside 12GB of RAM.
