Innoz OS for mobiles to provide Internet access via SMS

Aiming to expand its market visibility, Bangalore-based Innoz Technologies, a fast track start up in the area of Mobile and Wireless, has developed an innovative Operating System 'Innoz OS' for mobile phones that will give access to Internet through SMS.

The new software, which has been patented by Innoz, is presently being tested at the company's Bangalore unit and is likely to be launched by January next year, Abhinav Sree, Co- founder & COO of the company.

'We are not making smartphones. But we are making dumb phones, Smart, he said adding it took six months to develop the software.

Middle East, Africa, tier II towns and villages in India would be targeted, he said.

According to Abhinav, the company was in talks with mobile phone manufacturers, including Nokia and Micromax, to pre-install 'Innoz OS' in basic model phones. The OS will communicate with the internet through SMS, he said.

Communication between mobile phone and cloud will happen through SMS. So even an ordinary phone with no GPRS, could have access to internet, he said.
