Cover Plus packs starts from Rs. 499 and comes in two product categories - Gold and Platinum. The Gold pack ranges from Rs. 499 to Rs. 4,599 for differently-priced devices. It includes benefits like multimedia downloads from Hungama, a premium antivirus protection suite from Trend Micro, and one-year insurance from Oriental Insurance.
The Cover Plus Platinum pack starts from Rs. 1,499 and goes up to Rs. 3,999, once again depending upon the price of the device being insured. This includes all the benefits from the Gold pack, as well as extended warranty.
Other benefits from the company for both packs is said to include SIM misuse in case of theft with coverage up to Rs. 1,000 and "mobile bill protection against job loss in case of retrenchment up to Rs. 3,000 per month for three months."
Ingram Micro says the Cover Plus packs will be available through 20,000 physical retail stores as well as through online channels, says company.
Commenting on the new product, Felix Wong, President at Ingram Micro, said, "As mobility becomes mainstream, we have identified a growing trend for increasing gadget protection. We seek to address the same with the Cover Plus, which comes bundled with free insurance. Most of the mobile-insurance market is still unorganised with regional or city specific players.
