Idea has launched a new 3G Android smartphone called Idea Aurus for Rs. 7,190 at a Mumbai event. The smartphone joins the telecom operators' earlier phones including the Idea Blade, ID-280 and the dual-SIM
ID-918. It will be available across all major mobile retail stores and Idea outlets across the country.
Idea Aurus sports a 3.5-inch capacitive multi-touch display with 320x480 pixels and features Android 2.3. It is powered by an 800MHz processor and comes with a 1300mAh battery. The device has a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera as well for video calling.
The Idea Aurus comes bundled with a 4GB microSD card with external storage options available up to 32GB. Pre-loaded apps on the device include Idea TV, Idea Mall and YouTube. Social networking apps on the smartphone include Facebook, Twitter and Orkut.
Connectivity features on the Idea Aurus boast Wi-Fi and 3G. However, only one of the two SIM slots support 3G connectivity. Idea users who recharge with Rs. 259 will get 3G benefits worth Rs. 2,340 with the smartphone.
The earlier dual-SIM offering from the telecom company is the Idea ID-918 that was launched in June. Manufactured by Alcatel, The ID-918 runs on Android 2.3 and has 3.2-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display. Besides, it features a 3.2MP rear camera, 150 MB internal storage, 512 MB RAM and an expandable memory up to 32 GB via microSD card.
