Idea Cellular has launched Aurus II, a new 3G Android smartphone for Rs. 6,490. The smartphone runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the latest iteration of the OS.
The Aurus 2 is powered by a 1GHz processor and has 512MB of RAM. It sports a 3.5-inch screen that has a resolution of 320x480 pixels. It features a 3.2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front facing camera. The phone offers an internal storage memory of 4GB expandable up to 32GB via micro-SD card.
Idea is also offering a 3G pack with the phone that can be purchased for Rs. 261 and offers 1.6 GB of 3G data and Idea TV subscription for three months. The phone also offers dual-SIM functionality.
It will be available across all major mobile retail stores and Idea outlets across the country.
The phone is the successor to Idea Aurus, which the company had
launched in September 2012.Idea Aurus sports a 3.5-inch capacitive multi-touch display with 320x480 pixels and features Android 2.3. It is powered by an 800MHz processor and comes with a 1300mAh battery. The device has a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera as well for video calling. The Idea Aurus comes bundled with a 4GB microSD card with external storage options available up to 32GB.
Idea had earlier
launched a phone with similar specifications, Idea Ivory, albeit with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Idea Aurus 2 is the sixth 3G Android smartphone by the telecom operator in the Indian market. The other smartphones in the portfolio include Idea Ivory, Idea Aurus, ID-280, ID 918 and Idea Blade.
