In an interview with Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt commented that the next iteration of Android, will release in October or November.
Schmidt said "We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October/November, which everyone's really excited about."
Another interesting tit-bit is that Andy Rubin who heads the Android division of Google will be appearing at the AsiaD conference which starts on 19 October. Google could use this platform to unveil the next generation of Android.
Ice Cream Sandwich is slated to offer a myriad of new features of which the most interesting update will be the unification of the Honeycomb and Gingerbread operating systems.
The Samsung Nexus Prime is expected to be the first Ice Cream Sandwich phone and many believe it could feature a 720p display and a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor.
In the meantime watch the video below. Eric Schmidt's comments will come after 30 minutes of the video.
