The Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i India launch event has finally started, with the company bringing its two new mid-range smartphones to the country. Ankit Yadav, Product Manager, Huawei Consumer Business Group - India is now on stage to unveil the new Nova 3 and Nova 3i. Both the phones have dual cameras on both the front and the back with AI integration, and the display notch that house the sensors and the front camera module. The front cameras of both phones also have HDR Pro. The new Nova 3 and Nova 3i will receive GPU Turbo mode via an OTA update for a more powerful gaming experience, as well as AI-based 4D gaming experience. Both handsets will also come in 128GB storage capacities in India.
The Huawei Nova 3 price in India is Rs. 34,999, and the smartphone goes on sale in India on August 23. As for the price in India of Huawei Nova 3i, buyers will have to shell out Rs. 20,990 and sale will commence on August 7. Both the handsets will be Amazon exclusive in the country. Pre-orders for the two models will start today at 2pm. Launch offers include no-cost EMIs, extra Rs. 2,000 off on exchange, and Rs. 1,000 cashback on pre-booking. Jio customers will get cashback of Rs. 1,200 and 100GB complimentary data.
Huawei has also partnered with Amazon India to deliver an AI-based shopping experience. This feature takes the user to the Amazon listing of a product if users long press on its image with two fingers; alternatively, users can take a photo of the product and the tech will scan it to open the Amazon listing.
The Huawei Nova 3i is powered by the Kirin 710 SoC, the company's first chipset made on the 12nm process; it has 4GB RAM. Huawei Nova 3 gets IR-based Face Unlock functionality, and 6GB RAM. The two smartphones will come in Iris Purple and Black colours and have dual VoLTE support.
The dual-SIM (Nano) Huawei Nova 3 is the company's latest offering in the mid-range segment. It runs EMUI 8.2 atop Android 8.1 Oreo, and sports a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and an 85 percent NTSC colour gamut. The handset is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, coupled with a Mali-G72 GPU, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB/ 128GB of inbuilt storage.
In terms of optics, the Huawei Nova 3 bears a vertically aligned dual rear camera setup with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary 24-megapixel sensor with PDAF and f/1.8 aperture. Front of the smartphone also has a dual camera setup with a 24-megapixel primary sensor, with f/2.0 aperture, and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The front camera comes with 3D Qmoji, Huawei's take on AR-based emojis that iPhone X popularised with the Animoji.
On the other hand, the Nova 3i sports a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) LTPS panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 409ppi pixel density. The smartphone is fuelled by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC, paired with 4GB/ 6GB of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB of onboard storage. Storage on the handset is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).
In terms of optics, the Huawei Nova 3i bears a similar vertical dual rear camera setup albeit with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, the handset gets yet another dual camera module with 24-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel unit.
