Huawei has reportedly launched the successor to the Ascend Y530, the Ascend Y540, in the Netherlands.

A Dutch publication named GSM Helpdesk claims that the handset is now available to buy in local markets at a price of EUR 109 (approximately Rs. 7,700). So far there has been no announcement from Huawei.

A support page on the Huawei site for the Ascend Y540 is now also live, tipping an imminent launch announcement from the Chinese company.

According to the Dutch publication (via GSMArena), the Huawei Ascend Y540 features a 4.5-inch WVGA (480x854 pixels), which is identical to the display on the Huawei Ascend Y530 launched last year. Under the hood, the Huawei Ascend Y540 is said to be powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, which is a minor upgrade from the Ascend Y530's 1.2GHz clock speed. The company has upgraded the RAM on the Ascend Y540, which includes 1GB of RAM.

The dual-SIM based Huawei Ascend Y540 comes with dual-SIM support and also supports dual standby. There is a 1950mAh battery backing the device. Much like the Huawei Ascend Y530, the Ascend Y540 also sports a 5-megapixel rear camera alongside a 0.3-megapixel front camera. There is 4GB of inbuilt storage further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). The handset is said to support dual 3G bands; though no mention of the 4G support.

Huawei earlier this month launched an metal-clad smartphone, the Huawei C199S in China for CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs. 22,600). The dual-SIM Huawei C199S runs EMUI 3.0 skinned on top of Android 4.4 KitKat, and features a 5.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 (MSM8928) processor clocked at 1.5GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM.
