Following the leaked images of HTC U aka Ocean Note smartphone, new rumoured specifications of the device have now surfaced on the Internet. As per the new information, the upcoming HTC smartphone will come with a dual-SIM variant, will feature IP57 certification, and will notably be missing 3.5mm headphone jack.

The source of the information, developer @LlabTooFeR, has said that the phone will be made available in both single-SIM and dual-SIM configurations. Further, the smartphone is expected to come with IP57 certification for dust and water resistance, meaning that users can take the device near swimming pools without the fear of occasional splashes.

However, the absence of 3.5mm headphone jack on the smartphone is likely to be the talking point if the company does ditch the port in the final product. Even though Apple took the bold step of removing the port from its flagship devices last year, in Android devices, the lack of headphone jack is still not a trend that is likely to catch up any time soon.

The HTC U has been tipped to run on Android 7.1 Nougat, and pack a 5.5-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) display with Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The handset is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's capable Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

In terms of optics, the HTC U might come with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX362 sensor at the back and a 16-megapixel IMX351 sensor at the front. Further, the HTC U is expected to be offered with either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage depending on the RAM variant. The smartphone has been tipped to pack a 3000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. The connectivity options on the device may include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2.
