Unfortunately, the teaser image does not say anything about an upcoming event or a device. But the post was accompanied by a tagline that said (via Gforgames), "820 figure will be given a new meaning."
Multiple reports are suggesting that the smartphone in question could be the Desire 820, considering that the HTC Desire 816 has been a popular handset in many regions. The company might also want to cash in the popularity of its recently launched Desire handsets such as Desire 516 and Desire 616.
Gforgames speculates the HTC Desire 820 will ship with the new 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, which features an octa-core CPU (with 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, and 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.0GHz) and the Adreno 405 GPU. We can expect that the company will be revealing more details about the anticipated Desire 820 in coming days.
HTC has been on a launching spree this week, as the company also unveiled the Butterfly 2 for South Asian markets. The single-SIM HTC Butterfly 2 smartphone is the successor to the HTC Butterfly launched last year at Rs. 49,990 in India. The HTC Butterfly 2 is also water-resistant with IPX5 and IPX7 ratings, while HTC says the Butterfly is dust-proof as well, with an IP5X rating.
Another launch was the much-awaited Windows Phone 8.1-based variant of its HTC One (M8) flagship on the US carrier Verizon Wireless exclusively. The Android version is called One (M8), while the Windows version will be called One (M8) for Windows. The two look identical on the outside, except for a Windows Phone logo. They also sport the same hardware specifications.
