HTC seems to be preparing yet another variant of its flagship smartphone, the HTC One, with an octa-core processor under the hood, claims a report. If true, this would imply HTC is looking to play the specifications game, competing with Samsung and its octa-core Exynos processors, most recently seen in the Galaxy Note 3.

The report appeared on Techcommunity, a Greek publication and was first picked by GSMarena which notes that the HTC Onewith the eight-core processor is in development, and will also feature 3GB of RAM. The site also notes that the Taiwanese maker might add some software tweaks to the upcoming octa-core variant of HTC One.

The site further suggests that other major additions to the octa-core variant of the HTC One include clear audio option that enhances the audio performance of the device and clarity during calls. The company is rumoured to add more antennas to support all major networks across Asia, Europe and the US. The Greek publication reveals that the alleged new variant of the One might be announced alongside the HTC One Max phablet.

Earlier this month, the alleged HTC One Max leaked again in images, and was compared to Samsung's Galaxy Note phablets. The report even claimed that Taiwanese giant was adopting the old Qualcomm processor for the production of company's first phablet.

The rumoured HTC One Max purported press branding render has already leaked thanks to the notorious phone tipster, @evleaks.

Just to recap, the HTC One features a 4.7-inch screen with full-HD display. It is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor along with 2GB of RAM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, Infrared and Micro-USB. The smartphone was launched with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) along with a brand new version of Sense UI.
