While HTC has in the recent past launched its high-end smartphones with an all-metal build, it seems that the company wants to target broader consumers with its plastic variant of high-end smartphones. The company had previously tried its hand at 'affordable flagship' segment with its plastic One (E8) model, and recently launched the One E9+. Now, another plastic variant of the HTC One M9+, dubbed HTC One M9ew, has been spotted at China's Tenaa certification.

First spotted by Engadget Chinese, the plastic HTC One M9ew handset is said to have passed through a Chinese certification authority, complete with specifications.

The Tenaa listing of the HTC One M9ew tips some specifications, such as 5.2-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) display; 2.2GHz octa-processor (unspecified chipset); 3GB of RAM; microSD card storage support); 20-megapixel rear camera; UltraPixel front camera, and fingerprint scanner.

To recall, HTC has already launched a plastic variant of the One M9+ called the HTC One E9+ last month in China. Much like HTC M9+, the One E9+ sports a QHD (1440x2560 pixels) resolution IPS LCD display but with a bigger 5.5-inch screen (534ppi). Powered by MediaTek MT6795M 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz, the smartphone is equipped with 3GB of RAM. 16GB of inbuilt storage is also included that can be expanded via microSD card (maximum capacity unspecified).

Recently, HTC confirmed that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update would start rolling out to the 2014 flagship, One (M8) in August, complete with Sense 7 UI introduced with the HTC One M9.

HTC last week started rolling out an update for its Camera app that brought support for shooting photos in the raw format preferred by professionals on the 2015 flagship - the HTC One M9 smartphone.
