An HTC One (M8) smartphone running Windows Phone 8.1 has been spotted on a telecom operator's website, ahead of the scheduled event on August 19 in New York. The Taiwanese giant has already sent out invites for the event where it is expected to launch the anticipated handset. While the invite doesn't reveal anything, it is notably very similar to the invite HTC had sent before the launch of its HTC One (M8) flagship.

The Windows Phone 8.1-running smartphone was spotted on the Verizon's holding page, suggesting that the wireless carrier will sell the device when it is launched. Notably, the image's URL contains 'HTC M8 Windows'.

While there are no other details about the device known as yet, it is expected that the HTC One (M8) Windows Phone 8.1 device will boast the same specifications as its original Android sibling. Notably, HTC hasn't launched any Windows Phone-based smartphone since the HTC 8S and HTC 8X launched in 2012.

The HTC One (M8) sports a dual rear camera setup that puts a 4-UltraPixel camera alongside a 5-megapixel front camera. The Nano-SIM supporting phone packs a 2600mAh battery; a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor; 2GB of RAM; a 5-inch full-HD display; 16GB and 32GB storage options, and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB).

In March, HTC had launched the One (M8) in India at Rs. 49,900. Last month, the company had also launched the dual-SIM variant of the smartphone with Snapdragon 801 SoC for select markets.
