While we know that Samsung could possibly launch the premium variant of its flagship as - Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime - there are now also several rumours about HTC also making a premium variant of its One (M8) flagship.

The HTC premium flagship variant project reportedly is in development with codename 'M8 Prime', and the smartphone is speculated to be released in September.

An Htcsoku report (via G4Games) claims the HTC One (M8) Prime will feature a 5.5 inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) display as expected on Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime too. Notably, LG has confirmed it will be including a Quad HD display on its G3 flagship smartphone, which is also confirmed to launch in Q2.

The alleged One (M8) Prime is said to run on a Snapdragon 805 APQ8084 SoC with Qualcomm's latest MDM9x35 multimode modem and RF transceiver chip technology. It is expected to pack 3GB of RAM instead of the 2GB RAM on HTC One (M8) (Review | Pictures). Also the storage capacity on the smartphone is said to be 16GB.

Notably, Qualcomm's latest modem technology was announced last year and is the "first commercial solution to offer global 4G LTE advanced 40MHz carrier aggregation for FDD and TDD with download speeds of up to 300Mbps" according to the company

Earlier Htcsoku had also suggested that the HTC One (M8) Prime will boast of a new camera combo, comprising "18 MP Depth / 5 MP UP" sensors.

Although the G4Games report mentions that these specifications appear to represent development unit and could differ from specifications seen in further development, it remains to be seen if HTC is actually making a premium variant of its One (M8) handset.

Earlier, the famous tipster @evleaks had also hinted towards the same project codenamed M8 Prime. "Forget the Ace. What y'all are really waiting for is codenamed M8 Prime. [comments: http://evleaks.at ]" the tweet read.
