As of now, the HTC One (M8 Eye) is only listed in China and is currently up for pre-order at CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs. 40,000). The listing suggests that the new One-series smartphone will be officially launched on October 15. The company initially is offering a bundled Dot View case with every pre-order of the One (M8 Eye).
Notably, the listing does not reveal the specifications of the new smartphone; though it includes promotional images that suggest One (M8 Eye) will feature new Eye Experience mobile imaging software features released on the HTC Desire Eye.
Considering that the phone is a new variant of the 2014 flagship, One (M8), we can expect the handset to include the similar innards, though with perhaps a 13-megapixel front-facing camera onboard. However, we are yet to hear about the exact specifications of the handset from the Taiwanese company.
Slashgear spotted the listing first, and points out that the One (M8 Eye) still sports the company's duo camera setup, first seen on the One (M8). The site also claims that the One (M8 Eye) comes with identical hardware specifications as seen on the flagship.
For those unaware, the One (M8) came with Android 4.4.2 KitKat with the company's new Sense 6 UI on top. The phone is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, alongside 2GB of RAM. It comes with a 5-inch full-HD display and is available in 16GB and 32GB storage options, with support for expandable storage via microSD cards of up to 128GB capacity. The phone comes with a 2600mAh battery. The highlight of the HTC One (M8) is the duo rear camera setup that included a 4-UltraPixel camera alongside a depth sensing camera while there was a 5-megapixel front camera included as well.
HTC on Wednesday at its 'Double Exposure' event launched the selfie-focused Desire Eye smartphone alongside a new GoPro-like camera dubbed RE.
The company also revealed a flurry of new features such as the HTC Eye Experience, which the company claims is an "enhanced imaging software" for HTC devices, and an all new Zoe, which is a collaborative video editing community.
