HTC might be planning to offer customers a cheaper alternative to the HTC One (M8), while taking on the Samsung Galaxy S5, with a plastic smartphone said to be called the HTC M8 Ace.
Leaked by @evleaks earlier this month, the 'HTC M8 Ace' is now being claimed by Engadget to sport high-end specifications with a lower price tag. The M8 Ace is said to feature a 5-inch screen with full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution and be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC clocked at 2.5GHz.
These features we have already seen in both Galaxy S5 and HTC One (M8) previously. However, the M8 Ace's plastic unibody build instead of aluminium is said to make it sport a cheaper price tag than the flagships.
A report coming from TMT Post, a Chinese website, claims the HTC M8 Ace will be priced at around CNY3,000 (about Rs. 29,000).
Last week, HTC launched introduced new budget smartphones, HTC Desire 210 Dual SIM and the mid-range HTC Desire 816 in India for Rs. 8,700 and Rs. 23,990 respectively.
Notably, HTC announced the mid-range Desire smartphone, the Desire 816, at the sidelines of MWC, alongside the HTC Desire 610.
Commenting on the launch of the Desire 210 Dual SIM, Jack Yang, President, HTC South Asia said, "It is a phone that everyone will want, with amazing technology at the entry-level market space. This latest HTC Desire range combines, fast dual-core processor speeds, premium features at an affordable price offering for users with the best experience at this category."
