The company has indicated that, "it will soon launch a second generation Butterfly customised smartphone to capitalise on growing consumer interest in the large-screen phone segment". There is no clear indication in terms of when this smartphone will be available in the market.
HTC had originally launched the Butterfly smartphone in October 2012. This smartphone comes with 5-inch Super LCD 3 1080x1920 display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and a pixel density of 441ppi.
Other features of the HTC Butterfly include 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro quad-core processor along with 2GB RAM. There is 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB. The smartphone runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) along with a layer of HTC Sense 4+. The smartphone comes with 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras. HTC Butterfly has a 2,020mAh battery. Connectivity options include HDMI out, Micro-USB, Infrared, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC.
While talking to Focus Taiwan, Ben Ho also mentioned that originally the company had planned to launch HTC Butterfly only for the Japan market. However, later HTC launched the smartphone in markets such as United States and Taiwan.
HTC has recently introduced its latest flagship smartphone HTC One. HTC one comes with 4.7-inch full-HD display (468ppi) sporting an aluminium unibody. It is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor along with 2GB of RAM. Both front and rear cameras come with full-HD video recording capabilities as well as Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). HTC One is powered by a 2,300mAh battery. HTC One is skinned with the new Sense 5.0 UI atop Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
However, the rollout of HTC One has been delayed due to component storage and it is expected to start retailing from April.
