In addition to renting movies, consumers will now also be able to purchase them. Google has added two more categories to the store in the form of TV Shows and Magazines.
"We're also adding TV," stated Chris Yerga, engineering director for Android, at the Google I/O day 1 keynote. "You'll be able to purchase episodes or entire seasons of your favourite TV shows."
Google has also partnered with top magazine publishers who can showcase their publications in the store.
Consumers will also get 14-day trial for most popular magazines, so they can try them out before actually making a purchase.
With these new categories, the Google Play Store now houses Android apps, Android games, magazines, e-books, movies, music and TV shows for consumption across Android tablets, web and Android smartphones.
