The service gives Samsung Knox users access to Good's secure container platform and app ecosystem. Good for Samsung Knox creates a Good-secured domain on a Samsung Knox-enabled Android device where Good apps, Good-secured apps, or custom apps secured by the Good Dynamics secure mobility platform resides. Good also provides support for the Knox MDM APIs.
Good adds the integration of its services also prevents rooting of corporate Android devices, or rooted BYOD devices from accessing corporate resources; protects devices against Android malware that attempts to modify the kernel or system; and secures corporate apps and data at rest, in motion, in memory, and between apps.
The two companies had first announced their partnership back at MWC 2014. "Good is now the first enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider whose secure container platform and app ecosystem are integrated directly into the Knox security stack. This joint solution creates the enhanced secure solution for enterprises and government agencies looking to accelerate their Android deployment to drive secure mobile productivity," said Samsung in a statement.
Injong Rhee, Executive Vice President of Enterprise Business, IT and Mobile Business at Samsung Electronics, added, "The combination of Samsung and Good represents the best solution for secure enterprise Android productivity - no matter whether corporate-liable, COPE(Corporate Owned, Personally Enabled) or BYOD(Bring Your Own Device) device ownership models are being used."
In November last year, we saw Samsung and BlackBerry teaming up for the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution 12 in Samsung Knox devices. The Canadian smartphone maker said the service would arrive early this year.
