OnePlus is a Shenzhen-based start-up and producer of smartphones founded in December, 2013. The company's claim to fame is its bid to offer flagship-level specs in its smartphones, at affordable prices. OnePlus initially sold its smartphones only through an invite system where customers would be sent an invite to purchase smartphones and they had to make the purchase within a fixed time frame. Of late the company has held open sales of its smartphones too.

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 aims to be a solid mid-range device which is expected to deliver the basics going by the brand's ‘Core Experience' philosophy. While the Nord CE series started off as a watered-down version of the numbered Nord series, OnePlus has been adding interesting updates that somehow seem to reduce the gap between the CE and non-CE Nord models over the years. This year, unlike previous releases we see OnePlus releasing the new Nord CE 4 before the Nord 4. While there is no indicator that OnePlus will announce a Nord 4 this year, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 seems to have enough new hardware to warrant an upgrade from its predecessor the Nord CE 3.

The newly launched OnePlus Buds 3 appears as a brand-new product line since OnePlus never launched a Buds 2 truly wireless earphones. Technically, these are closer to the Nord Buds Z2 both in terms of features and in terms of price, so you can say that these buds are the spiritual successors to the Buds Z2. However, their pricing places them just below the premium OnePlus Buds Pro 2 in the OnePlus audio range. OnePlus, with its new Buds 3 truly wireless earphones, claims to deliver premium features at a lower price point. I've been using them for a couple of weeks, and here's why I think they are an excellent choice at Rs. 5,499 in India.

OnePlus 12R was launched alongside its big brother, the OnePlus 12, in January at the Smooth Beyond Belief event. While the phone is smooth, it's certainly not beyond belief. What's beyond belief is its price tag. The phone is now available for purchase in India with a starting price tag of Rs. 39,999. And for that price, you get a lot of phones. However, there are still some areas that need some improvements.

The OnePlus 12 is the brand's regular flagship, which for several years has been following one straight line, attempting to nail the basics. It's the flagship that many OnePlus fans will reach out for (versus the pricier Open), but unlike previous models, there seems to be no visible compromise. You get a very capable camera system from the OnePlus Open, an IP rating and even wireless charging. But one area OnePlus has stayed silent about is AI. Unlike Google's Pixel 8 series and Samsung's Galaxy S24 series, the 12 has no user-facing and fun generative AI software features. Apple, too, is expected to announce several generative AI features with iOS 18 this year.
