After launching the Coolpad Note 3 last week, the company has now taken to social media to tease the launch of yet another smartphone in India. Decoding the teaser, it is expected that Coolpad will be launching its flagship smartphone - the Coolpad Max - on May 20 in India.
The Coolpad Max was launched in China last year. Apart from having dual-SIM and dual standby support, the smartphone also offers a 'dual-system' feature with a separate external system and a secure internal system for the encryption of the user's calls and texts for added privacy. The company claims that the software also comes with secure financial applications, including mobile payments.
There is no word on pricing, but just to create a fair idea, the smartphone is priced at CNY 2,298 (roughly Rs. 23,500) for its base edition (3GB of RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage), going up to CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 28,600) for the 4GB of RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage variant. The CoolPad Max ran on Android 5.1 Lollipop overlaid with the company's CoolUI 8.0. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone has dual-SIM dual-standby capabilities which means that the user could use both the SIM cards at the same time.
Talking about the specifications, the Coolpad Max has a 5.5-inch full-HD display with pixel density of 401ppi. The smartphone's display is protected with 2.5D Arc Gorilla Glass. It is powered by the 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC paired with Adreno 405 GPU. In China, the company launched 3GB and 4GB of RAM variants with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB inbuilt storage options, but it is unsure as to what RAM and storage options will be launched in India. The smartphone comes with a hybrid SIM slot, which means that it can be used as a microSD slot (up to 128GB) as well to expand storage further.
Coming to camera, it sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash accompanied by a 5-megapixel front facing camera. It supports 4G LTE connectivity and other basics like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It is backed by a 2800mAh battery, which the company claims can last up to 310 hours of standby time and up to 17 hours of talk time. Coolpad further claims that the smartphone has the coveted Quick Charge feature that can juice the battery up to 65 percent in just 30 minutes.
The Coolpad Max was launched in China in three colour options - Gold, Grey and Pink. To reiterate, Coolpad has not officially announced the launch of Max in India, but the teaser points to it.
