The company has posted changelog for the Android 5.0 Lollipop for Asus ZenFone 5 LTE (A500KL) on its ZenTalk forum and it advises users to ensure they running V11.4.6.94 software version before installing V12.4.5.21. The Android Lollipop update for the ZenFone 5 LTE is around 820MB in size and users will have to follow standard operating procedure (SOP) for the new system firmware update.
According to the official changelog, the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrades Kindle, Asus Webstorage, and Super Note apps; brings new lockscreen which remove standalone wallpaper and weather details (1G RAM variant only); a change to the quick settings/recent app layouts (1G RAM variant only); revamped Dialler and Contacts; removal of in-call animation and cover; addition of My Ocean wallpaper, Day Scene Live Wallpaper, TripAdvisor, and Asus Auto-start Service Manager app, and auto-start service manager, as well as improved VOIP phone call function and music function.
To recall, the Asus ZenFone 5 LTE model launched in July in Taiwan and was priced at NTD 6,990 (roughly Rs. 14,000). The ZenFone 5 smartphone's LTE variant never launched in India.
The Taiwanese company on Thursday via its ZenTalk post confirmed that the Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the Asus ZenFone 5 LTE will start rolling out early May and Asus has indeed kept the promise. Asus had also confirmed that the immensely popular ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, and ZenFone 6 smartphones will start receiving their Android 5.0 Lollipop updates starting mid-May.
On Thursday, the ZenFone 2 series ahead of India availability started receiving its first FOTA (firmware over-the-air) update that added new features.
