Asus is expected to launch three models of its new generation
ZenFone 3 lineup at its Zenvolution event at Humble House in Taipei. The company started
sending invites for the event, which is scheduled to begin at 11:30am IST, earlier this month.
Not much is officially known about the new series of smartphones, except that they will feature
USB Type-C ports,
fingerprint sensors, and metal frames.
Earlier this month, a benchmark listed had
tipped that at least one ZenFone 3 model (codenamed Z106D) would pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It is said to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, pack a full-HD display, and sport a 23-megapixel rear camera alongside an 8-megapixel front camera.
Separately, two ZenFone 3 smartphones were spotted in
benchmark listings in January this year, codenamed Z010DD and Z012D. While the former featured a 5.9-inch HD display; a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera; an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC; 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of inbuilt storage, the latter featured a 5.5-inch full-HD display; a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC; 3GB of RAM; and 32GB of inbuilt storage.
The ZenFone 3 series was once again tipped last month, with two ZenFone 3 models
spotted on the Red Dot 21 design website. The Asus ZenFone 3 was seen to feature a 2.5D glass on both the front and back, and sport a curved aluminium frame. The listing also pointed to a USB Type-C port, a fingerprint sensor, laser autofocus, and both front and rear LED flash modules.
The Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe seen on the Red Dot 21 website was said to feature an all-metal build, and also feature a physical home button, with two capacitive buttons on either side.
