Android 7.0 Nougat Update Now Reportedly Rolling Out to Android One Devices

Google started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update to compatible Nexus devices last month and earlier this month LG V20, first smartphone with Android 7.0 Nougat, was launched. Now, next in line for the update are Android One devices, as the search giant has has reportedly started rolling out an over-the-air Android 7.0 update for the smartphone series.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Google has started rolling out the update for Android One devices and Cherry Mobile G1 is one of the several devices to be getting Nougat treatment by the company. The search giant has continued its trend from last year of pushing the latest Android version to Android One devices right after releasing the factory images for Nexus devices. However, it will be interesting to see which Android One devices will be able to support the latest iteration of Google's mobile platform.

Recent rumours suggested that devices with Snapdragon 800 and Snapdragon 801 SoC will not be able to support Android 7.0 Nougat. It was said Qualcomm has not made corresponding graphics drivers for the new Vulkan API present in the latest version of Android to improve gaming performance.

Sony has already come up with the list of all of its devices that will be receiving the Nougat update but has not confirmed the time-frame in which it will be rolling it out. As per Sony, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra and Xperia X Performance will be getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The likes of HTC have shared their Android 7.0 Nougat roadmap as well.

Android 7.0 Nougat brings along multi-window support, performance enhancements, improved battery life, and changes to notifications, among other new features.
