Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Now Rolling Out to Xolo One, Says Company

Xolo has announced that its One smartphone is now receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update over-the-air (OTA).

The company has confirmed that the update can also be downloaded manually via the company's support website. Another way to update is by downloading the OTA files on a PC and transferring them to your handset. Xolo One users can also refer to our "How To" feature on downloading and installing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

The company has detailed some new Android 5.0 Lollipop features for the smartphone, including the Material Design UI.

Besides Material Design, Android 5.0 Lollipop features an improved notification system; Kill Switch and improved security; a new messenger said to be a simplified version of Hangouts; device sharing with Guest user mode; improved hardware keyboard accessory support, support for 15 new languages (including Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu); improved accessibility features (such as text contrast boost, colour inversion, and enhanced colour differentiation); improved audio, video, and camera capabilities, and improved Internet connectivity everywhere apart from more powerful Bluetooth low energy capabilities.

Xolo last year launched its One smartphone, priced at Rs. 6,599, and had claimed that the smartphone will receive an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Xolo's One smartphone, not part of the Android One program, was seen as a competitor to the other smartphones in Google's initiative that were pegged to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update early.

Te Android One smartphones including Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V, Spice Dream Uno launched in September last year were slated to be among first to get Android 5.0 Lollipop update; though there have been no announcements as yet.
