On Saturday, the company announced that the over-the-air (OTA) Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Motorola Moto X (Gen 2) (Review | Pictures) will arrive this week, and the company will soon start the roll out for other eligible Motorola devices as well. Moto X (Gen 2) users can manually check for the update by visiting Settings > About phone > System updates.

In a press statement, Motorola said, "This latest version of Android brings all-new material design to life with a bold, new visual style. The new user interface is designed to enable better, more natural touch screen interactions and introduces vivid new colours, typography, and edge-to-edge imagery to make using your phone more fluid. It lets you catch up with notifications on your lock screen and even dismiss them without unlocking. Android Lollipop's new 'Downtime' and 'Interruption' settings also allow you to decide what people and what notifications get through at times that you choose."
Earlier this month, Motorola had rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the first-generation Moto G - aka Moto G (2013), Moto G (XT1033), and Moto G (Gen 1) - in India.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the dual-SIM enabled Moto G (XT1033) came with build number 220.21.16.en.03.
Notably, the changelog for the update included the new Material Design UI with fluid animations to new application and system themes, colours and widgets, as well as the new notifications UI that will now appear on the lock screen. Other new features part of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the first generation Moto G included Smart Lock; new interruptions and downtime settings that will offer the option to tailor how interruptions behave; redesigned multitasking; Ambient Display now showing notifications without turning on the full display; revamped Motorola Assist, the new flashlight option, and more.
