Xiaomi's popular budget smartphone, the Redmi 1S, went on its fourth flash sale in India on Tuesday, and this time it just took 5.2 seconds for 60,000 units to be listed as 'out of stock'.

The company's Manu Kumar Jain, the head of Xiaomi India, posted the latest flash sale figures on Twitter.

Notably, 40,000 Redmi 1S (Review | Pictures) smartphones went 'out of stock' in 3.4 seconds in the third flash sale, 4.5 seconds in the second flash sale, while the first flash sale saw 40,000 units going 'out of stock' in just 4.2 seconds.

Flipkart's Mi page notes that the registrations for the next flash sale on September 30 for the Redmi 1S will begin at 6pm IST Tuesday.

Flipkart, the exclusive online retailer of Xiaomi handsets in India, had also claimed that over 350,000 people registered for the fourth flash sale of the Redmi 1S.

The Flipkart page has been lately suggesting consumers to register for each flash sale separately and notes, "Registrations will not be carried over. You need to register again for next sale."

Considering that limited stocks of the Redmi 1S will be available in India, the popular e-commerce giant has revealed that it will limit orders to one phone per registered email ID per sale.

It's worth pointing out that Flipkart's procedure requires people to just add the handset to their cart for it to be classified as 'sold out', and people are given additional time to complete their purchase.

Like the previous occasions, this led to a lot of frustrated buyers. Manu Jain's tweet announcing the latest 'sold out' round received mixed replies.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer enjoyed much success in India with its flash sale model in the past, selling over 95,000 Mi 3 (Review | Pictures) smartphones since its launch in late-July. The company, also referred to as 'China's Apple', had halted the Mi 3 flash sales in India to focus on the Redmi 1S, but said it would resume the sales at some point in the future.
