Samsung at its Unpacked 2017 event held on March 29 launched its much-awaited flagship smartphones - Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The highlighted feature of the smartphones is the Infinity Display with 18.5:9 ratio with a nearly bezel-less design. Here are the pictures of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be offered in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold colours.
Samsung has debuted its voice-powered personal assistant Bixby on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The South-Korean giant demonstrated as how Bixby will mark the 'start of a new era' for its company.
The all-new Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will sport iris recognition technology, which was earlier seen on the dead Samsung Galaxy Note 7. As the name suggests, the biometric recognition scans iris to unlock the phone, verify Samsung account, and more.
As its highlighted and unique feature, Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display while the Galaxy S8+ sports a 6.2-inch QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are dust and water resistant with IP68 certification. Both the handsets run on the company's UI based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
Samsung's latest Galaxy S8 smartphones also debut the company's brand new UX that has been developed to enhance the user interactions.
Samsung has incorporated the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC for the American market. International markets (including India) will get the Exynos 8895 SoC powered Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
The company also announced the new Samsung DeX mobile-to-PC transition tool that can turn the Galaxy S8 into a desktop. The Samsung DeX tool will be compatible with the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, and will offer users an Android-based desktop-like experience.
Starting April 21, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will be available for sale in select markets.
Inside the retail box, you get a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ handset, USB Type-C cable, travel adapter, AKG earphones with ear tips in different sizes, USB connector (C to A), Micro-USB connector (C to B), ejection pin.
On the pricing part, Samsung did not announce the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ price at its event, but US carrier pricing has been obtained by The Verge. Verizon Wireless has the lowest rates, at $720 (roughly Rs. 46,700) for the Galaxy S8 and $840 (roughly Rs. 54,500) for the Galaxy S8+. Prices go up to $750 (roughly Rs. 48,700) and $850 (roughly Rs. 55,200) respectively.
